Woodland Walk

Thursday was my day to meet up with my friend, this week. We decided on a walk at Haldon Forest with her dog, Bruce.....

First things first though, we drove to a nearby cafe to have breakfast. Well, you can’t walk on an empty stomach, haha! I had a delicious plate of bubble and squeak with egg and bacon. I also ordered an extra sausage, which I cut into little slices for Bruce. He lives going out with ‘Auntie Ann’.

Then we parked up in the forest. My friend comes up here regularly, so knows all the different walks. We went on the Raptor walk. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any Kestrels or Buzzards etc. this time. What I did see, were some gorgeous trees. I could’ve taken loads of photos, but that would be very boring for you, so I just took a few......

Look at this bark, the wonderful cragginess (if that’s a word!)......

We walked a fair distance, however Bruce ran about three times as far, darting into the undergrowth and coming out streets ahead of us, darting back again and appearing behind us! When we got back to my friend’s house, we had a well deserved slice of lemon drizzle cake, while Bruce retreated to his bed for a snooze.

Later on in the day, I made some flapjacks to take to the Blue Cross today. I can’t believe I’ve never made them before, they’re so simple! Don’t think they turned out to bad. One bit missing here, I had to test them.......

Today, hubby and I took an early trip down to a car dealer to enquire about a different car for me. I’m very excited and will tell you more at some point next week. As we were there a little longer than expected, we sped home. Hubby had to make his way up the M5 before the holiday traffic got bad and I drove up to the Blue Cross for my volunteer stint. The flapjacks went down well, what shall I make for next week? I sat/socialised with some lovely cats today. I was especially pleased when this one came out of her pen to me. She only came to our centre a few days ago and has just been having some fuss in her pen. But today, I sat on the floor by her pen and she came over to me and snuggled up on my lap! Purring away.......

This evening has been just me and Karma, hubby won’t be home until about 9 tomorrow evening. I treated myself to a Chinese (hubby will have the rest tomorrow), had a long catch up with my Mum on the phone and have had a nice relaxing evening. Not sure what I’m doing tomorrow, depends how hot it turns out to be.

Thanks for popping by, cheerio for now, Ann x

  1. Bruce looks a lovely doggie, the forest walk looked and sounded bliss, nothing more relaxing than walking through woodland. I think is wonderful that you help the Blue Cross, I think I would want to take them all home with me. That's where me and my husband are different, he isn't a cat or dog person, I love all animals, at least I have my chickens which I adore and we have some turquoisine parakeets.
    Have a wonderful weekend. x

    1. Bruce has a wonderful temperament and is very calm for a spaniel. I don't think Karma wouldn't entertain another animal here, but I always have a 'favourite' at the BX. My current favourite will be off to his new home soon, which is wonderful. My hubby is a cat person, however my daughter works for BX and fosters dogs, so he's meeting more dogs. I'm like you, I love all animals. Have a lovely weekend x

  2. Bruce is gorgeous and definitely deserving of a sausage.
I always love a wander through the forest and your walk looks beautiful. Followed by some lemon drizzle cake - even better. My mouth is watering.
Enjoy your flapjack. We are never without it in this house. It's Lily's favourite. X

    1. He is! He did well too, as last time he had to share with our other friend's two dogs! We must try a different walk next time. There is one called the Butterfly walk, which must be lovely this time of year!
I think I shall be making more flapjacks soon for the family xx

  3. What a lovely walk. The cat is so sweet. I always made flapjacks and they were very popular. Will have to start again.

    1. She's lovely, isn't she? I took several photos, so they can go on the Blue Cross website. I'm going to make some more flapjacks today I think! :)

  4. Goodness how cute is Bruce, I've promised myself a do once I'm settled in my new life. There is lots to sort first but I'm definitely going to get one. I has a Jack Russel Harry for 16+ years.
I would like something that doesn't shed as I have asthma which started when I got him.

    1. He is lovely, always brings me a shoe when I walk into his house, haha. 16+ years is a good age! Hope you get a little friend when you're sorted :)
